The Michigan Tech Cross Country teams are programs on the rise, and we welcome your generous support in their continued growth. Your contributions provide extra enhancements to our program in general areas like locker room improvements, extra team apparel, equipment for athletes, and expanded support for our strength and conditioning program.
Last year, we qualified seven men for DII National Cross Country Championships. In the classroom, we received USTFCCCA All-Academic team awards for both Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, with an average team GPA continuing to be among the highest at Michigan Tech.
This year we look to continue that momentum. Both our Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams are nationally ranked in the top 30. Our men took the overall win at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, a program first. We had our first athlete run under 24 minutes in the men’s 8K, with his teammates in close pursuit. Our student-athletes are focused, driven, and they’ve got big national goals.
Our largest improvement need is for dedicated team treadmills to be able to train in inclement weather. Due to the unique snow load in the Copper Country, it can be a challenge to run the roads in our winters. A bank of treadmills would allow us to train as a team in even the snowiest winter. In addition, we’re looking to set one treadmill up with a load reducing apparatus so it can be used to rehab from injury.
Your gift to Michigan Tech Cross Country will support our continued success. Our student-athletes are among the best in the nation, and your gift will support them as individuals and the overall future of program success. Thank you!
