More Than Just A Room
Michigan Tech student-athletes consider the locker room a sacred space to mentally prepare for a performance, both individually and as a unit. It is the location where a team is created, building individual players into a high-functioning unit prepared to succeed. The purpose of a locker room in college sports is much more than just a place to get dressed for practice and games.
Currently, the women's basketball and volleyball teams share a locker room space, making it difficult for both teams to fully benefit. To provide our student-athletes with the space they need to reflect, prepare, and restore for decades to come, there will be a new locker room created in the old kinesiology lab, in addition to upgrades being made in the current locker room. This project is critically important to both our women’s volleyball and women’s basketball programs, their future success, and the well-being of our dedicated student-athletes.
Your contribution—of any size—will transform our ability to support our student-athletes and elevate both programs through increased recruiting, national recognition, and awareness, and the ability to attract top-quality student-athletes.
Sponsor a Locker
For donors who would like to participate in a unique giving opportunity, you can sponsor a locker with a commitment of $5,000, which can be paid over a period of up to five years. In acknowledgement of your generosity, your name will be placed in a visible location on one of the lockers in the renovated women's basketball locker room, serving as a reminder to current student-athletes who came before them and who have supported them along the way. Your name will remain on the locker for seven years, with an opportunity to renew your sponsorship with an additional gift in five years.
$350,000 has already been secured from cornerstone gifts for this project, with a total of $500,000 needed. Our goal is to secure $150,000 to underwrite the renovation of the locker rooms, including the installation of new lockers, fixtures, flooring, and enhanced technology. Any additional funds received over the renovation cost will be invested in further improvements in the spaces and the volleyball and basketball programs.
