Bill and Ruth Lucier Endowed Football Scholarship

In celebration of Coach Lucier's 90th birthday, and with his approval, the Michigan Tech football players who played under his tutelage plan to establish the Bill and Ruth Lucier Endowed Football Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to the player, as determined by the coaching staff, who best demonstrates the leadership skills that will create a positive difference in the lives of others.

Lucier, a versatile athlete, became Michigan Tech's head football coach in 1963. He was selected as the Michigan Associated Press Small College Coach of the Year in 1963 and was the Northern Intercollegiate Conference Coach of the Year in 1963 and 1965. His teams won two conference titles in his six years as head coach.

We hope you will join us, Don Boldt (1958), John Kwiatkowski (1959), Bill Miller (1959), Clay Willman (1959), Bill Wiljanen (1960), Orvo Watia (1961), Dave Courtney (1962), John Groves (1962), Marvin Lilley (1962), Gene Belmore (1963), Henry Jackson (1963), Jim Allen (1964), Ken Naples (1964), Dennis Euers (1965), Chuck Lucchesi (1965), Paul Butkovich (1966), Tom Csmarich (1966), Jay Dishnow (1966), Fred Hall (1966), Dan VanAbel (1966), Don Sloat (1967), Todd Stewart (1967), John Benaglio (1968), Jerry Perttunen (1968) and Alex Pociask (1968), by contributing to this scholarship fund that will permanently memorialize Coach Lucier's positive influence on football at Michigan Tech.

Gifts to the Bill and Ruth Lucier Endowed Football Scholarship will be included in the 100th Anniversary Football Campaign. The Scholarship was announced at the 100th Football Anniversary Celebration on October 8. We are excited to have reached our goal of $50,000, and your gift will enable even larger scholarship awards.
